Hard to tell from this perspective that this is a bird that is 17 inches tall.

I've spent the better part of 3 summers trying to get a good shot of this guy; still don't have the one I'm looking for!
This is one magnificent bird, for sure. We have a pair; a very elusive pair, unfortunately.
When I get shots like these, I am always reminded of how glorious it is to live in the country. How sad it would be to missing out on daily life of this nature (pun intended)!
